Cisco, UT At the turn of the century Cisco was a thriving sheep herding community. The railroad shipped both the livestock and the wool they produced. Cisco was on the mainline from Grand Junction to Salt Lake City. There was a Depot, Water Tank and Section buildings at one time. The site was an important water stop for the locomotives, however there is no easy water here. Instead water was hauled in from the Colorado River. Today the old site of Cisco is a true ghost town. There are still a few structures standing and the littering of many years of civilization are scattered throughout. Interstate 70 passes over the old site of the railroad tracks today. The original water tank foundation is located in the Interstate median.
The railroad maintains a loading siding nearby the old town site where cargo containers are transferred from flat cars to trucks.
