De Beque, CO The town was founded in 1879 by Dr. W. A. E. De Beque. An old stone fort once used for protection still stands. Oil shale formations occur in the region and the rock formations contain pre-historic fossils. The rail yard was a typical section site with Depot, Section House, Bunk House and Water Tank. A more modern girder bridge crosses the main road into town. The structure is a combination plate girder center span with wooden pile trestle approaches.
