 The
Chama depot has stood at the same location in the yard for almost one hundred years. It
was constructed following the fire of 1899 when the original two-story depot was burned to
the ground. The floor plan from 1899 shows the depot manager's living quarters in the
center.

A considerable amount of grading has changed the exterior views over time. The original
wrap around dock is now gone, replaced with a smaller version on the east side of the
station. The depot has had several paint schemes. Today it sports a sunshine yellow color.
Previously the color was a dirty tan. In the 1960's the depot was painted white with gray
trim.

The east elevation presented here show the current depot and dock. End view drawings
show trim details that have disappeared over time. The east elevation is where passengers
wait to board the train.
