Rollinsville, CO John Rollins built a toll road over Rollins Pass to Middle Park. This was the primary route west over the mountains direct from Denver until an easier road over Berthoud Pass was constructed. This took most of the traffic from Rollins Pass. In 1861 a stamp mill was constructed at Rollinsville to process ore coming out of the nearby mountains. A post office was established in 1871 and the site was also a stage station. The Denver Northwestern and Pacific maintained a Depot at Rollinsville. Ice was also produced in the area waterways and stored in an Ice House near the railroad.
